Ghost Kid Iconic Logo

So you’ve heard about Ghost Kids, and want to know more. Patiently waited for an entry on the ground floor, tired of wasted funds and poor conviction. Oversaturated markets drained every bit of our last liquidity in hopes for one more moon shot, so understandably traders are cautious about NFTs.

While there are a handful of other projects deserving of highlighted attention, this will dive into some history, traits, and highlight accomplishments and failures we have all endured along the way. Hopefully by the end you will find conviction in finding the Ghost that’s right for you 👻

Disclaimer: I am a top 5 holder, with one of the largest recorded purchase TXNs in project history. Also a current community lead with other holders. My GKD glass is 1/2 full. This is also not financial advice, but do not come cry to me if you lose money. Do no preach to the choir about being “down bad” I am right there fam. Grow a pair, or go back to Mutual Funds and ETFs.

The Beginning — Mint & Degen Raiding

First Roadmap Release — Followed By Staking

After a stealth mint and one day until sell out, Ghost Kid was able to rise up from .1 to over 1 $SOL, and within a month of the projected roadmap, the price rose to over 20 $SOL! Staking Ghostkid NFTs for $BOO token emissions was about to launch after initial vested lock up, and little did anyone know the journey unfolding. $BOO was initially to be distributed after 30–60 day lock ups, with less to be emitted per ghost as time passed due to token halving. The token was already gaining traction as there would be a liquidity pool as well as staking emissions granted to holders, with mythic 1:1s emitting ~5x more tokens — and upgraded ones getting a higher (2x) emission than the non-potion upgraded ones.

The original Ghost Kid team was unparalleled. With a few notable characters that led the way and ensured results consistently. From memes to tech, and hosted spaces, there was a vibe within the community being created. The website was top notch, staking platforms progressively getting better as time passed, with raffles, and raids-as-a-service being brought out and battle tested.

Potions were airdropped that would then give an upgraded staking reward and art upgrade to the previous platform.

Potions do not have any current utility do not buy.

My first art upgrade on my old PFP
Non potion upgraded on the left, and upgraded on the right. Potions changed the color tints and had changes to the image. The middle ghost is a glitch that shows the un-upgraded body, but with the upgraded tail. Possibly one of the most rare ghosts behind 1:1s — More on this later.

Incubator Projects & Ordinals

Boonties release and “Raid 2 Earn" was the absolute hit of the community.

  1. The Boonties platform was a token gated holders rewards and engagement system that benefit holders only
  2. The R2E platform allowed anyone to deposit $SOL and have our community raid the post and engage for a portion of the revenue based on engagement criteria.

This was one of the first way to engage and interact through a token gated reward system that worked great until terrible market sentiment and collapsing infrastructure. This would force necessary changes from within to make decisions and pivot on royalties, as well as the cost vs profitability on the raids and boonties platform. Both seasons of boonties included community competition and engagement from the built out tech that was based around showing support and engagement from people within our participating communities. The developers also built out platforms for projects like the GMers and So Dead. Additionally, even launched projects like Anon and Wild Tribe giving perks to Ghostkid holders along the way.

Have you seen this Ghost Kid? If found please reply below.

At one point, GKD was even one of the first projects to implement a dynamic royalty based on floor price, which will lessen the royalty percentage as the floor price increases past the threshold. Between raffling off a Degod, Thugbirdz and countless other projects highly sought after at the time and attempting to support the tech and community, it may have been bad timing, or a bite bigger than the project can chew.

The Middle

At the time, I was in the top 50 on the Boonties leaderboard on the Gold Chain Team! This is where a lot of the lore and culture was built around early traits and evolving sub-DAO-metas. Internally on the old platform, you could select a team based on your holdings of token gated traits and your continued support would help aid your team in victory! Soul DAO and Gold Chain DAO reigned supreme on the leaderboards, with Punks, Hoodies and Business DAO all trailing close behind. Lost Soul DAO and Horns & Halos were the most coveted, and usually reflected by a higher floor prices, and less in percentage in the collection — also terrible on the boonties charts.

Gold chains were the most active by far, but also had a lot more wearable combo’s for PFPs since the chain itself was not a rare trait.

$BOO had use case and could be used for raffles and platform purchases. $BTC was heating up due to inscriptions and GHOST was ready, being a raffle of 1:1s for holders of the community!

Post FTX

While many things were going well, market sentiment due to FTX was still not fully stabilized, and Twitter had API changes which made a lot of the Boonties and R2E platforms unmanageable and unprofitable (besides the numerous support issues). While the intentions were pure, there was still friction due to over-promises and under-delivered expectations. Contracts for tech development took way past estimated time given, and the tech itself was rapidly evolving, essentially halting progress on many ambitions. Anon sunset, while Wild Tribe was able to develop Artplex.io, but to-be-determined on any further development or marketing to help support and sustain growth.

Art Upgrade Pt 2

After trying to keep with up with almost every trend in tech that seemed within reach, the final pivot would be for a hybrid NFT and 2d Art upgrade. While this is still one of the first of its kind built, allowing a cross between crypto-currency and NFTs, there was still friction.

When you purchase an NFT that you are emotionally attached with, you don’t want to see the image change. This concept didn’t hit a lot of holders until release.

While the irony of this tech can be confusing, many holders thought they had lost there pixelated Ghost Kid, when really the hybrid NFT and meta data allowed for different prioritization (meaning the pixel ghost was still there the whole time embedded in the token ID address).

Another confusing part was all of the NFT images turned in to bubbles to be awoken via the capsule airdrop, and 2d spooky spins release. The community did not take this very well and no good deed in NFTs goes unpunished.

Death of NFTs & Community Takeover

Before 2d art and hybrid NFT release a choice was made to let go a lot of the team. While in hindsight it was probably not the right choice, it is part of the story and sets us up for success now. With that notable team on to bigger and better things, the reliance on the original founders to pick up the slack intensified. The reality kicked in that there were too many missed expectations and misunderstandings to not address and the price reflected heavily.

Lots of conversations were made about this but ultimately no real agreement was made on how to move forward besides to continue pushing the art upgrade and 2d transfer.

1/2 of the community really enjoyed this, others were still upset about the loss of pixel art as priority.

A pool was made for $KID (the hybrid token fractionalized ownership of a Ghostkid) which can also even incorporated rarity to hybrid conversions. Another first for Solana NFTs!

  • 10k $KID for commons
  • 15k $KID for uncommon
  • 25k $KID for legendary and 1:1s which

The hidden flex that no one was addressing was while the pixel art stayed hidden under the token metadata, the 2d art was able to have spinnable traits while spooky spinks was live.

Using $BOO, and different rarity capsules, you could spin new 2d traits for your Ghost Kid and customize to look different.

This now complicates statistical rarity because you have to different layers of art and metadata / trait ratios.

My un upgraded Lost Soul as pixel. (Below is the 2d evolution phase I created by spinning capsules)
The first set of trait rolls.
How I decided to keep it.

While you might be asking yourself, why the fock am I reading all this history, I thought this was a buyers guide?

Well, there is no given rarity table for hybrid NFTs yet. We do have a built in pool that accommodates our own versions of 2d re-rolled traits. Initially upgrading the NFT to hybrid and 2d would unlock the remainder of $BOO to the ghost but after the Spooky Spins platform sunset, the use for $BOO was deemed useless and remaining supply burned.

When this happened, this also shut the door on rerolled 2d traits which some variations (such as the 2d fur coat on a Lost Soul Body) were never released from the platform!

Current statistical rarity on marketplace platforms does not account for:

  1. Pixel rarity vs 2d trait rarity and whether there can be a 2:1 benefit
  2. Body/Type Desirability based on pixel floor price vs the new trait hierarchy adding additional rarities towards the skins.
  3. Naked Ghosts which in pixels had an aura once upgraded and most were initially in the top 100 of rank. After upgrades and 2d the trait for “naked” became to oversaturated with other traits therefore a true “naked" is much more rare than any listed marketplace rarity.

Where We Are Today

After numerous attempts at regrouping, the reality was burning the resources for tech wasn’t profitable for the DAO, and to continue did not seem feasible. The ambition needed to be simplified and in order to thrive and sustain. The DAO needed to start fresh, get back to the basics and re-establish our community that gave this project notoriety and reputation on Solana. After both founders stepped back, this allowed the community to lead, rebuild the community chats, and continuing to grow and spread good vibes throughout the Solana and Bitcoin ecosystems without harsh and potentially unrealistic expectations.

This includes:

  • Reprioritizing pixel over 2D art for collectors — in progress.
  • Sunsetting Spooky Spins — completed
  • Burn remaining supply of $BOO and new LP is for the hybrid NFT token $KID — completed
  • Auto upgrade remaining ghosts no bubbles only art shown — except the last remaining 1:1 — completed
  • A .2 $SOL holder claim for active members, with a second claim approximately 35/90 days left until next claim.

Essentially this puts a .4 $SOL bounty on each kid with an active holder

With all this taken into consideration there has been a lot of shopping and eyes on the project to arbitrage the initial .2 $SOL bounty, as well as hedge the rarity table for the $KID token pool.

Whatever your blockchain fancy is, I hope you understand the complexity of art built into each token as there is minimal stuff out like this that exists.

Even DeGods transitioning to Hybrid tokens didn’t fully include rarity to the swap which destroyed any chance of equitable hierarchy when all have an equal value from NFT — token swap regardless if artistic and trait selections. . . Hopefully this gets addressed.

Trait Index & Rarity Hierarchy

  • 1:1s Pixel vs 2d 1:1s
  • True naked ghosts (4 trait with pixel aura)
  • Body — (Lost Soul, Soul, Ghost, Spirit, Spectrum, Shadow)
  • 2D State (Awakened, Ascended, Ethereal)
  • Clothes (Suit, Gold Chain, Hoodie — 2D Fur coat, Skateboard, Reflective Jacket, Mascot)
  • 2D Faces

1:1s

The last 1:1 bubble . . .
The original pixel1:1s (GKD # 1, 10, 100, & 1001)
The original 1:1s upgraded to 2d art.
The new 2D 1:1s which are numberless in the collection. True Ghosts
Next in line after rarity would be the 81 Ethereal Legendary ghost state

State — The 2d body upgrade

  • Ethereal (81) were the legendary traits rolled in spooky skins
  • Ascended(168) were the rares traits rolled in spooky spins
  • Awakened (4623) were all 2d Ghost Kids with no additional 2d upgrade

New traits and background

Additionally there are new backgrounds and 2d traits so some have been mixed and matched more than others. Below are a few that have stirred the pot.

Red Gradient Backgrounds have been increasingly more rare
I think most people rerolled the chapka and didnt realize it would end up with 22 available

Hats

While the OG Bomber Hat, Nakama (Joyboy), Fisherman, Bucket and Peaky all had sub-daos, now they all have 2d variations of headwear.

As shown above the add-ons which became the most rare were the:

  • Chapka (22)
  • Baseball cap (23)
  • Designer cap (25)
  • Headband (25)

All have zero available listings with —

  • Ski mask (33)
  • Trucker Hat (33)
  • Designer Bucket (43)
  • Pit vipers (44)

All have below 50 available in the collection.

Sounds Rare

  • Punk (209)
  • Mohawk (238)

These are the OG punks in full effect. The sub-dao lore and history remains unphased with all punk GKD pixels behind each 2d image.

Last OG hat tier will spotlight —

  • Horns (136) &
  • Halos (136)

Also amongst the top, and still have higher floor price for entry, with —

  • Crown (48)

Becoming a new relic of the 2d Hats also holding above a 1 SOL floor.

Clothes trait legends go to Gold Chains and Business suits

Clothes

  • Gold Chains (16/406 Listed)

Weren’t necessarily rare, they were one of the most sought after traits and the DAO that made the most noise. Lost of history in gold chains and a legendary trait regardless of total count. A cool twist to the 2d upgrade was the chain didn’t involve a shirt so it gave the naked effect on a lot of NFTs. (Well done Demo)

  • Suits (11/265 Listed)

Suits had a vibe and one of the cleanest in pixel art traits with

  • Hoodies
  • Tech vest

As other cool OG traits but got intertwined in other 2d trains

Legendary 2d clothes start with

  • Fur Coats (7)

and no one managed to roll one with a Lost Soul so that variant is locked indefinitely unless spooky spins open back up

  • T shirt (11)
  • Reflective Jacket (14)
  • Mascot (16)
  • Backpack (17)
  • Headphones (18)
  • High Collar (18)
  • Tracksuit (18)

All have below 20 total, with

  • Tracksuit (20)
  • Basketball Jersey (26)
  • Football Jersey (27)
  • Designer tracksuit (39)
  • Skate (3/43 Listed & One of my personal favorites)
Combination Wins

The above picture shows 3 traits filtered with Gold Chains, and Nakama hat, but with Ethereal state on for the 2d images While looking at the pixel images, you can see how few there are of certain combinations and how the 2d variants might look nothing like the pixel.

Body Combination

Body

The legendary bodies go to

  • Lost Soul (325) Had the GKD lore a lot of community started building on $APTOS and built Mavrik.
  • Soul (327) < — Had the most active Boonties and raid crew when competing and DAO lead went on to manage projects on $BTC
Face traits were a new cool feature for 2 D

Face

Similar to the state, the face traits had tiers as well and the rare ones look awesome on the 2d images. While all of them have their own rarity in total, they all look different on each body like the state trait.

Reflective (24)

Broken (29)

Enlightened (29)

Drip (37)

Half (37)

Pixel (37)

And the rest of the 4682 assets will have basic 2d eyes.
